Domaine Gueth - GEWURZTRAMINER

Nose: intense notes of flowers, tropical fruits and saffron.

Palate: expressive with a multitude of floral aromas of rose, where spices are added. Generous and easy to digest, with an elegant and thirst-quenching finish.

Muriel’s advice: this traditional Gewurztraminer fits perfectly as an aperitif. It magnifies spicy recipes. In a completely different register, it shines with strong cheeses and captivates moderately sweet desserts.

Cheese puff pastry, tapas, curry scampis, mango rougail, coconut chicken, turmeric stir-fry, tagines and couscous, raspberry / rose macaroon, exotic fruit cookies, Munster, Stilton, Epoisses.

Vines : Our vines are on average 30 years old, from selected old varieties and grafted to the estate from generation to generation.

Divided into slopes and midslopes on 40 plots for an area of 8 ha. This diversity is found in the grapes of each plot. The yield is reduced to less than 60 hl/ha.

We mow the grass 1 out of 2 rows and we work the soil of the other row by practising organic viticulture since the 1980s. We started organic certification in 2019.Our soils are alive, our vines are balanced, our grapes are «well in their skin».

Terroir :Wine from the “wasserloch Horein” plot: the terroir is made up of large scree and rocks of Vosges pink sandstone, covered with beautiful deep soil rich in clay. A beautiful location with a good water reserve which gives the wine lots of fruit and elegance.

Exposure: EastAltitude : 260 m

In the cellar : We taste the grapes to decide on the optimal harvest of each plot and achieve the best balance in sugar, acidity and taste.

Our pneumatic press allows a smooth and slow extraction. Our juices flow by gravity and then are naturally released to preserve all their aromas.

Our fermentations engage with the indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, without temperature control. They take on a different rhythm depending on the character and energy of each wine. In equilibrium, air extraction and a single sulphiting are sufficient for stability. This is followed by lees breeding, kieselguhr filtration, and bottling at the estate.

We reserve our wines to offer their best potential.
