58 Vino Rosso 2020

What winemaker says about this wine:

"We have a new wine, called 58-sinquanteut, 100 % Starderi Barbaresco reclassified to Red Wine, which is giving us a lot of satisfactions.

58 is a wine completely obtained from a vineyards for Nebbiolo da Barbaresco Starderi planted in 1958; the kind of wine is nebbiolo rosé (there are really few vineyards of this kind, as it is an old clone of nebbiolo, not planted for many many years as it gives wines that are very light in color -but the structure and perfumes are exceptional. in the years other kinds of nebbiolo were planted and the “rosé” almost disappeared.

Our vineyard could be the only one in the area of the Barbaresco; the 58, now, is legally a wine “nebbiolo for Barbaresco from the cru Starderi”, but now we are reclassifying it as “table wine” as it can’t be called Barbaresco as it was not kept in wood for the mandatory barrel aging, and we don’t want the Consorzio di tutela Barolo, Barbaresco, … give us other rules for a wine we love. So, not a DOC name (Langhe Nebbiolo or Langhe Rosso), but a table wine.
