Bourgogne Aligoté 2022

"Minimal-intervention Aligoté showcases Burgundian terroir through organic, biodynamic practices."

Grape and Style

Clos de la Perrière is a white wine crafted from Aligoté grapes grown in Burgundy. This single-vineyard wine originates from a 0.30-hectare plot in Corpeau, situated near the renowned villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet.

Terroir and Viticulture

The vineyard boasts a south/south-east exposure at an altitude of 220 meters, with clay and limestone soil. The vines, planted in 1967 and 1970, are densely arranged at 10,000 vines per hectare. The vineyard is cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods, emphasizing soil health and natural vineyard management without chemical inputs.

Winemaking

The winemaking process for Clos de la Perrière focuses on minimal intervention to preserve the wine's authentic character. Grapes are hand-harvested and undergo direct pressing, followed by light settling. Fermentation occurs spontaneously with indigenous yeasts in 350-liter barrels. The wine ages for 4 months without stirring, then naturally clarifies in stainless steel tanks for 2 months. Notably, the final product is neither filtered nor fined, allowing for a pure expression of the Aligoté grape and its terroir. This approach results in a wine with an aging potential of 3 to 5 years, showcasing the unique characteristics of its Burgundian origin.
